Lauren Thomson in Raglan

Ruapuke-born and internationally acclaimed songstress Lauren Thomson will be playing her first ever gig in Raglan this weekend. Lauren will be at Orca on Friday, performing alongside Tami Neilson and Jackie Bristow.
Lauren moved to Whatawhata when she was six and is now based in Auckland but she still comes down to Raglan every summer to stay in her parent’s bach. Her music career is flying high – she’s just enjoyed a highly successful 2009 which has seen her releasing her debut EP Our Love Is Due, performing to rave reviews throughout New Zealand and even making a trip to Nashville. Dubbed “a deep talent waiting to emerge,” by critics, Lauren was also a nominee at the 2008 APRA Silver Scroll Awards for the title track from her EP.
She’ll be joined on stage by Tami Neilson, whose debut solo album Red Dirt Angel won the prestigious Tui award for the New Zealand Music Award’s “Best Country Album 2009” and Kiwi-born Jackie Bristow, who is now enjoying a successful music career in Austin, Texas. Jackie has opened for, amongst others, Daniel Lanois, Art Garfunkel and Madeline Peryoux.
Saints and Sinners is a rare opportunity to catch these three, unique voices performing together.
Orca, Friday 5th February, 8pm. For tickets www.undertheradar.co.nz.
